The band explained what moved them to write this album:
“In moments of feeling inadequate, many individuals find themselves Shutting Down. Overwhelmed by self-doubt and the pressures of life. Shutting Down is a story of these ups and downs and the emotions that it can bring. Music often serves as a powerful antidote, providing solace and a means of expression that can help navigate these emotions. The right melodies can uplift spirits, foster resilience, and inspire a sense of connection, reminding us that we are not alone in our struggles. Engaging with these ideas can promote personal growth and improvement, transforming feelings of inadequacy into a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. With Shutting Down we wanted to touch on a side that is often overlooked. A side that is usually hidden from the view of others. You're not alone.”
The rigid dichotomy between serenity and chaos. Music comes from the fingertips of emotion; a roller coaster of life. This is FRONTAL BOUNDARY.
FRONTAL BOUNDARY started as the solo project of Brendin Ross. Their music mixes Industrial, Aggrotech, EBM, and synthpop enveloping harsh vocals, melodic leads, and hard beats.
Created in 2002 and revisited in 2008, the project released the demo “NeverEnding”, a purely instrumental album. A year later, the track “Mindfuck” was released on the Genetic Defekt Census compilation. In 2009 Brendin was forced to relegate Frontal Boundary to the back-burner for another three years. Frontal Boundary's next album, “Electronic Warfare”, was released in January 2012 and features tracks narrating Brendin’s life experiences endured during his absence from the project. The album is the aural testament to the theory of music and sound which embodies the Frontal Boundary ethos.
Since 2012, FRONTAL BOUNDARY has achieved a meteoric rise insuccess within the Industrial/EBM community. Frontal Boundary has released numerous remixes of many artists within the scene, including Die Sektor, Panic Lift, Bruderschaft, Her Own World, and Trakktor. Die Sektor commented in regards to a remix request from Frontal Boundary, “Most remix requests we get for independent releases are from not-quite-there type bands. Your song, however, is definitely ‘there’. When I played it in my car on my iPod I was ready to cringe. However, I ended up saying ‘wow’ instead!”
FRONTAL BOUNDARY re-released “Electronic Warfare V.2” on March 1, 2013, followed directly by going on tour with God Module, a performance at the Kinetik Festival and playing with Suicide Commando on their only U.S. date of 2013. After that, a U.S. tour co-headlining with Die Sektor.
With 2019 comes a new lineup and change of pace for Frontal Boundary, with the addition of Krz Souls as vocalist. “The Fall” was subsequently released in March 2021. 2023 saw the addition of Jaysen Craves on synths - as well as a contributor sonically to the project.
Enclosed you can see the artwork by Vlad McNeally. The album was written by Krz Souls, Brendin Ross, and Jaysen Craves. Produced by Brendin Ross, mixed by Brendin Ross and Krz Souls. Mastered by Brendin Ross.
